Laneways

A fun day out for Inhousers at the 2012 Laneway festival in Auckland - sun, tunes, refreshments, a sea-breeze and shapes from Arch. Highlights include M83, Yuck and Girls.

A grand old time

For a new music book that we designed, we were lucky enough to be invited to the launch at Sir James Wallace's art-infused home and experience an intimate concert from pianist Stephen De Pledge.

Stata Centre

Wondering around MIT, we were engrossed by this crazy bit of architecture by Frank Gehry. The Stata Centre was opened in 2004, housing classes for Artificial Intelligence and Philosophy students, among others. And Noam Chomsky has an office there.

Neon Graveyard

A recent trip to the states included a quick visit to the Neon Museum outside Las Vegas.

No.1 Letterpress

I recently attended a letterpress workshop hosted by Graham Judd of GTO Printers. I was a kid in a candy shop with so much wooden type at my fingertips and old school letterpress machines. Nothing beats the feeling of scrubbing your hands with turps at the end of a hard days work. Workshop dates here.

Thursday’s

The Thursday dawn ride at Woodhill forest is somewhat of an Inhouse tradition. Dogs, deer and downhills, all followed by the best coffee of the week from the lovely Helen at Free-ridin' in Kumeu.

(This shot by the talented Mr Guthrie.)

Pilot on the press

Photographer Charles Howells casts his discerning eye over his Prada based fashion editorial in the new issue of PILOT. The PILOT team spent the Easter break press-passing the new issue at the printers. We think it’s a very pretty looking issue. Pretty in a good way. The new issue will be in stores across New Zealand on Thursday May 5, and across Australia 2 weeks later.

Type in the landscape

A visit to Wellington should always include a visit to the waterfront to see Catherine Griffiths' concrete text sculptures. They look as good today as they did when first installed.

The Universal Sigh

At noon today, we made a visit to our favourite record store, Real Groovy, and picked up a copy of The Universal Sigh - a free newspaper from Radiohead in celebration of their new lp. Hope you got yours too!

Shooting Auckland

We've been lucky to get out and shoot a couple of Artstation covers in some of the best spots around town. The Wintergardens are a true Auckland asset and Milford Beach in the East Coast Bays offer roll-your-jeans-up fun on the rocks and views of Auckland's youngest volcano, Rangitoto. These are some behind-the-scenes snaps, final cover shots to be posted.

Auckland premier

An Island is an unconventional music performance film and an abstract documentary about a band and an island. Filmed by Vincent Moon and featuring Efterklang. Inhouse is hosting a private-public screening of An Island, the first (and currently only) Auckland showing. Looking forward to what will no doubt be lush cinematography and charming tunes.

Art of War

John Reynolds' new work 'Art of War' made whilst on a residency in Beijing and later shown at Starkwhite's booth at the Beijing Art Fair. We were there documenting the work's creation and installation for the upcoming anthology 'Collateral language'.
